With ultra sound (US) one identifies sound with frequencies, which are above the range that a human being can perceive. This includes frequencies between approximately 20 kHz and 1...10 GHz. Sound with still higher frequency is identified as hyper sound, in case of frequencies below the audible frequency range is called ultra sound.  

The human ear hears acoustic events within the auditory sensation area (between 20 Hertz and depending upon age up to maximum 20,000 Hertz).
